Happy New Year, friends! My one resolution is to grow and improve at calligraphy. Thanks all for the inspiration and encouragement. Here’s to a great year of learning!

Hi Linda,
I found your blog through the Flourish Forum and enjoyed reading about your commitment to learning calligraphy. Your work is so beautiful! I was wondering about how you practiced when you first started. Is it more important to write individual letters over and over or simply dive in and write words? Unfortunately, I live in a small town with no workshops available.
Many thanks and Happy New Year!

Hi Nancy,
Thank you so much for the kind words! I started with the basic strokes, then put the strokes together to practice letters in groups that are similar, learning one group at a time. The words come later, and finally, putting them together in sentences.
I highly recommend Erica’s tutorials in the Flourish Forum – I believe they are visible once you sign up and register for the forum. And it’s all free!
Hope to see you in the forum! Thanks again for the message :-)
