My final project for the Copperplate class is to make holiday cards. I usually send out 50+ cards every holiday season, so I decided to make it a big project and have them letterpressed!
I wanted to give my business to a local printer, but everyone I could find around Los Angeles quoted me way over my budget. I found Enframing Press on Etsy and they were so wonderful and accommodating. They are located in Santa Cruz, so it also felt great to give my business to a California printer.
The card is 5″ x 7″, with art on the front and inside, and our address on the envelope flap, printed on 110# Fluorescent White Crane Lettra. I scanned in the calligraphy, cleaned it up, and added the midcentury-inspired artwork in Adobe Illustrator.
I received the cards today and I am so happy with how they turned out. It’s such a great feeling to see my calligraphy “in print.” Enframing Press did such a fabulous job, with quick turnaround, and answered all my questions. The project turned out even better than I had imagined. I hope my friends and family will like the card as much as I did creating it.
[Edited to add] My holiday card was featured in a blog post by Enframing Press! Thanks again to the wonderful team at Enframing Press for the beautiful work. I hope to work with them again soon.
